A little or a lot?

Your wedding cake should feel just right for your day — both in style and in size. Whether you’re going for a tall, elegant showstopper or something classic and understated, the portion size and design should work together to suit your vibe. Some couples want a big centrepiece with plenty to go around, while others prefer a smaller cake for cutting photos and a few special slices.

Dessert portions

These are larger, more generous slices (about 1 x 2 x 4 inches), perfect when the cake is the star of the show — where it’s served as the main dessert.

Coffee portions

These are smaller slices (around 1 x 1 x 4 inches), ideal for weddings where the cake is served alongside other treats or after a full meal.

These serving sizes are based on a standard-height cake. If you’re after a taller cake, the portions will be slightly smaller, but you’ll get more of them — perfect if you’re feeding a crowd and want that extra wow-factor with height!

Flavours to fall in love with

Your cake should taste just as good as it looks — and with a line-up of tried-and-true favourites, there’s something for everyone. From rich mud cakes to light citrusy layers and classic combos, each flavour is baked from scratch with quality ingredients and lots of love.

Can’t decide on just one? You don’t have to! If your cake has multiple tiers, you’re welcome to mix and match flavours — that way, there’s something to please every palate (and maybe even a little slice left over for breakfast the next day!).

Classic Chocolate

Rich, soft, and full of deep cocoa flavour — this classic chocolate cake is a forever favourite for good reason. It’s moist, indulgent, and pairs beautifully with any filling or frosting. My main recipe can be made gluten-free on request, and I also have an alternative version available that’s egg, dairy, nut (and gluten if requested) free. Just let me know what you need — I’ve got you!

White Chocolate

This fan favourite is smooth, sweet, and full of flavour — a soft vanilla-style mud cake with a creamy white chocolate twist. This recepie can be beautifully adapted with raspberries for a pop of tangy goodness that cuts through the sweetness just right.

Caramel

My personal favourite! Rich, buttery, and full of smooth caramel flavour, this cake has a soft, dense texture that melts in your mouth. It pairs beautifully with white chocolate ganache and classic vanilla buttercream filling, and is always a crowd-pleaser. If you’re after something sweet, decadent, and just a little bit indulgent, this one’s for you.

Lemon

Light, zesty, and full of fresh flavour — this lemon cake is the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. Paired with vanilla buttercream, it’s refreshing and soft with just the right amount of zing. A gorgeous choice for spring and summer weddings or anyone who loves a citrusy twist.

Carrot

Moist, spiced, and full of flavour, this carrot cake is packed with all the good stuff — fresh carrots, subtle spices, and a soft, tender crumb. Finished with a smooth cream cheese buttercream, it’s a classic, and seriously moreish.

Please note: I offer cakes with no gluten, dairy, egg or nuts – and can also create vegan options on request. But is important to know that Sass Kitchen is not an allergy free kitchen, and while I do my best to avoid cross contamination, I can’t guarantee this. My wedding cake tasting boxes are the perfect way to try a selection of flavours from the comfort of your own home (and maybe share a slice or two with your fiancé… or not, no judgement here!). Each box includes my 5 key flavours to give you a delicious taste of what Sass Kitchen has to offer.

Tasting boxes are available on select dates throughout the year and can be picked up from my home kitchen in Leamington, Cambridge.
