Hi, I’m Kelsea—a self-taught cake decorator with a passion for turning sweet ideas into edible art that brings joy to life’s special moments. My cake journey began over 10 years ago with a cake for my sister’s baby shower, when I came across a tutorial for fondant baby Converse and thought, “I could make that.” I begged a family friend for her famous mud cake recipe (which I still use today!) and got to work.
What started as a one-off project quickly turned into a passion. I’ve become the go-to baker for my family and close friends, creating custom cakes for birthdays, weddings, and everything in between. Along the way, I’ve built a trusted collection of recipes and techniques—taste-tested thoroughly, of course—to make sure every cake is as delicious as it is beautiful.
While on maternity leave with my son, I decided it was time to step into my “lady boss” era and turn my hobby into a small business. Working from my home kitchen in Cambridge, I now specialize in custom cakes for weddings.

Planning your wedding cake can be overwhelming. Here are some common questions to help guide you through the process.
How far in advance should I order my wedding cake?
Wedding orders need to be put in place at least 2-3 months before the event to secure your date and plan your perfect design. Sass Kitchen takes wedding orders up to 3 weeks before the event if we have availability, but your dream design may be impacted by what can be sourced in that timeframe.
Can I customize the flavors and design of my cake?
Absolutely! All my cakes are made to order, so you’re welcome to customise both the flavour and design. I offer five signature flavours – Classic Vanilla, Chocolate Mud, White Chocolate, Caramel, and Lemon – but if you’re after something different or have a specific flavour in mind, let’s chat and see what we can make happen. Do you offer cake tastings?
Yes, we have cake tasting boxes available every other month, allowing you to sample our delicious flavors and finalize your choices with confidence. If you are interested in one of our tasting boxes pre-order today.
What is the price range for a bespoke wedding cake?
As a general rule of thumb, most wedding cakes are in the range of $500-$1000, with the final cost depending on the complexity of the design, size of the cake, and the destination being delivered to.
Do you deliver the cake to the venue?
Yes absolutely – Cost of delivery is included in your quote. Sass Kitchen prefers to deliver wedding cakes to ensure the cake arrives safely and in perfect condition ready for your big day!
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes, I can cater to most allergy requirements, including gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free and vegan options. However, as the kitchen handles allergens, I cannot guarantee a completely trace-free product.
A great option for events such as weddings with an allergen attending is to order a set of allergy-friendly cupcakes on the side for those guests. While most flavours can be made gluten-free, we have an excellent alternative chocolate cake recipe that is egg-free, nut-free, and dairy-free.
What are the Terms and Conditions of my order?
By confirming your order, you’re agreeing to the terms below. If anything’s unclear, I’m always happy to chat before you lock it in.
Booking & Payments
A 20% non-refundable deposit may be required to secure your date within five days of confirming your quote. This helps cover planning time and reserves your spot in the calendar.
If needed, deposits can sometimes be transferred to a new date (within 6 months), depending on availability. Extra charges may apply. Anything beyond 6 months will need a new quote.
Final payment is due two weeks before your event. If your booking is made within two weeks of your date, full payment is required upfront to confirm.
Please note that partial payments without prior approval aren’t accepted, and admin fees may apply if this occurs.
Cancellations
The 20% deposit is non-refundable, no matter the reason for cancelling.
If you cancel more than 30 days out, there are no additional charges.
Cancellations between 15–30 days may incur a $50 fee.
Cancellations within 14 days are not eligible for a refund.
Changes to Orders
Need to upsize? If I’ve got the space, I’ll send you an updated quote to reflect the changes.
Downsizing is only possible in special cases, and a $50 fee may apply. The updated total must be at least 80% of the original quote.
Allergies & Kitchen Info
I offer cakes with no added gluten, dairy, egg, or nuts, and vegan options too – but please be aware I don’t run an allergy-free kitchen. All equipment is used daily with these ingredients, so while I take great care, traces may remain.
Once your cake is picked up or delivered, I’m no longer responsible for any damage. I’ll provide care tips to help you keep it looking its best.
Design & Creative Freedom
You’re trusting me to create something beautiful, and I take that seriously. While I’ll always aim to bring your vision to life, small tweaks might be needed due to things like weather or product availability. Any changes will be made with love and care to ensure the final cake looks and tastes amazing.

Unforseen Circumstancs
If I’m ever unable to complete your order due to illness or an emergency, I’ll let you know as soon as possible, offer a full refund, and do my best to help you find another cake maker.
Refunds
Refunds aren’t available for change of mind.
If you have a concern with your order, please get in touch within 24 hours of pick-up or delivery. If a refund or partial refund is appropriate, it will be at my discretion and only if the cake is returned in its original condition.
